- Viewing Log: Shirley Lasseter, by email, 11-19-18: 2005 paddle on Paynes Prairie during 2005 .... Lars Anderson as tour leader... [Participants] Lori Lazarus, Nancy Lasseter, Ewen Thompson and others. This area of Paynes Prairie normally has some water along side the path. Normally, this is a walking trail but due to an over abundance of rain, the prairie flooded. We paddled out to the observation deck which is normally about the 15 above ground level. Along the way we saw a lot of lotus flowers. They are the large yellow flowers that you see. The tour was Prairie do to it was closed to the public. Our tour guide got special permission to take us on this trip. At 2 minutes and 38 seconds you can see a partially submerged footbridge with a great blue heron.
