- Viewing Log: Gractia Parsons Walsh Culver is recovering from a stroke. She is sitting on a couch reading a "New Yorker." Corky asks her for stories about her life, "anything." Gractia talks for just under forty minutes. "Want to take a water break?" Corky asks. "Yeah," says Gractia. "Do you have your tongs?" Corky asks. They go outside. Gractia has tongs. Gractia puts crumbs in the dry birdbath. Pans of the yard, tree. They talk about the tree. Gractia reminds Corky that Corky had given it to her for Mother's Day. In a few minutes, they go back inside. More stories. Corky's brother comes in for a couple minutes at one point. At about 1:50, there's a break in the tape. When it comes back on, Gractia is in different clothes. How about the 3 little pigs, Corky says. Do you remember that one? Gractia, No. Corky, How about Cinderella? Gractia, I don't know much about that old witch mommy. Corky, Talk about going to Morrises. Gractia, Are you recording this? Corky, Mmhmm. Gractia, This is ridiculous. . . . You know I am recovering from a stroke right now. .... I can't call the words like I want to have, so you have to bear with me. She tells the story. Corky reminds her of all the stores they went to and who they ran into including a teacher who remembered her as a wonderful teacher. 'I feel so very tearful about that." Together Corky & Gractia remember Samuel Pepy's ending line, "And so to bed." "Good night," says Corky's brother who has never been in the frame.
