- Biographical/Historical Note: According to Shirley Lasseter, "Miranda Castro & I came up with the idea. We raised the money and got the food, made the food, decorated, and all that. It was before [gay marriage] became legal on the federal level so we had all gotten married by flying out of state and for that reason did not have the opportunity to celebrate in the community with family and friends. I forget how many hundred people were there but it was fantastic."
