The majority of the collections here so far are part of a collaborative project — Woman Behind the Camera — financed by the Council on Library and Information Resources (CLIR), which enabled LHMP to build this website & underlying database. While that project only included a few of our collections, we’ve been adding more & we will continue that so keep checking back.  In addition the item data fields here are highly compressed for general use. We have lots more collections and extensive documentation, and we’re growing.  Takes time to get it all online, and there will probably always be films, videos, collections, testimony, even salient details — full names or exact locations, for example —  that require special permission. Not every filmmaker or participant is comfortable with streaming; not every image or detail belongs online. And while our idea is to share the knowledge in our archive, it’s essential to respect filmmaker and participant concerns. (One, by the way, is to note that while these moving images were either shot by lesbians or depict lesbian lives in some part, not everyone who appears is lesbian. Another is that while we’re streaming highly compressed watermarked files, we have uncompressed digital files for almost every piece & to the extent the originals allow can provide beautiful versions for screenings or documentary use.)  In the meantime, if you have a research interest that isn’t covered here or come upon a video or data field that requires a special password or catch  a mistake or just have more questions, or if you have film or tapes you’d like us to consider preserving or you just see an obvious mistake, send an email to info@lesbianhomemovieproject.com.  This is a collective project.
